Accreditation Renewed

The University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business has successfully maintained both the business and accounting accreditations by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The dual AACSB accreditation has been renewed following the recent five-year review, placing the University of Oregon in the elite 1.4 percent of the world's business schools that have attained such distinction.

Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business programs.

Today, there are 755 business schools in 51 countries and territories that maintain AACSB accreditation. Similarly, 182 institutions maintain an additional specialized AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs. Furthermore, 90 percent of ranked business schools are AACSB accredited, and 97 percent of CEOs with business degrees on the Fortune 500 list attended an AACSB-accredited school.

“It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB accreditation," said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students."

Founded in 1914, the Lundquist College first attained business accreditation in 1923, and its accounting program was first accredited in 1989. Rated in the top 50 by U.S. News and World Report, the college pursues a unique mission and vision that draws strength from our links to the Pacific Rim and the distinctive qualities of Oregon culture: innovation, sustainability, active lifestyles, financial stewardship, and respect for individuality and diversity within an increasingly global community. It offers undergraduate degree programs in business administration and accounting, as well as MBA, executive MBA, master of science in sports product management, master of accounting, and PhD graduate programs. The Princeton Review ranked the college's MBA program as the #1 Green MBA in the county in 2015.

“Our faculty and staff work very hard to achieve and document the level of educational excellence required for accreditation," said James Terborg, interim dean of the Lundquist College of Business “We are pleased to continue our history of affiliation with AACSB, and I extend a special thanks to Beth Hjelm, Robin Clement, David Guenther, Margaret Savoian, Michael Crooke, and Susan Peter for their year-long efforts in the preparation of our continuous improvement reports."
